GB women kick off London 2012 Olympics

The Games of the XXX Olympiad have today gotten underway in the UK, with Great Britain's women's football team participating in the opening match of the soccer competition in Cardiff.

The Games' opening ceremony takes place tomorrow, with organizers anticipating 4bn people around the world to tune in for the event.

Athletes from the Arab world will contend for medals in a host of events, with Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Sudan and Jordan all set to compete.

انطلقت يومه الأربعاء منافسات الألعاب الأولمبية في المملكة المتحدة، بمشاركة منتخب بريطانيا لكرة القدم النسائية في مباراة الافتتاح في كارديف.

وسيتم يوم غد تنظيم حفل الافتتاح، حيث يتوقع المنظمون أن يحظى هذا الحدث بمتابعة من طرف أربعة ملايير شخص في مختلف مناطق العالم.

وسيتنافس رياضيون من العالم العربي من أجل إحراز الميداليات في العديد من المسابقات، بمشاركة كل من تونس، مصر، لبنان، سوريا، المغرب، الجزائر، السعودية، قطر، العراق، الكويت، البحرين، السودان والأردن.
