"Victim" of "virginity tests" sues Egyptian military

إحدى "ضحايا" "فحوصات كشف العذرية" تقاضي الجيش المصري.

Twenty five year old Samira Ibrahim, one of the 18 girls who were arrested during the March protests in Tahrir Square to have virginity tests administered on them, has filed a lawsuit against the Egyptian military for sexual assault. Samira’s father, a veteran political activist, supports her bold move despite his skepticism of the judicial system. Of the women who have publicly come forth concerning the “virginity tests,” she is the only one who has dare to go to court.

تقدمت سميرة إبراهيم، البالغة من العمر خمسة و عشرين عاماً، و هي إحدى الثماني عشرة فتاة اللاتي تم إلقاء القبض عليهن في أثناء احتجاجات مارس في ميدان التحرير بهدف إجراء فحوصات كشف العذرية عليهن، برفع قضية ضد القوات المسلحة المصرية بتهمة الاعتداء الجنسي. و يناصر سميرة في فعلتها الجرئية، والدها و هو ناشط سياسي محنك، و ذلك على الرغم من تشككه في نزاهة النظام القضائي المصري. و هنا نلاحظ أن سميرة الفتاة الوحيدة من بين باقي الفتيات اللاتي تم إجراء فحوصات العذرية عليهن لتتقدم و تتجرء على المثول أمام المحكمة لرفع قضية ضد القوات المسلحة المصرية.
