Church bombing sparks riots in Egypt

تفجير كنيسة القديسين يثير أعمال شغب في مصر

Egyptian security forces has filled the streets of Cairo and Alexandria in an attempt to calm furious Coptic Christian protesters, who blame the Egyptian government for negligence for the New Year's bombing that left 21 people dead.

The bombing, the worst in a decade, raised anger against the government, which has for a long time refused to acknowledge the growing tension between Egypt's Christian minority and Muslim majority, or that terrorists have a presence in the country.

While no group has officially claimed responsibility for the attacks, any confirmation that Al-Qaida is behind the bombing will create new and serious security threat in Egypt.

انتشرت قوات الأمن المصرية في شوارع القاهرة والإسكندرية في محاولة لتهدئة المحتجين الأقباط والمسيحيين الغاضبين، والذين يلومون الحكومة المصرية على إهمالها الذي ترتب عنه تفجير رأس السنة الذي خلف مقتل حوالي سبعة عشر شخصا.
