Protesters take to the streets of Alexandria over the killing of Khaled Said

احتشاد المتظاهرين حول مقتل خالد سعيد بشوارع الإسكندرية

Protesters led by leading figures from Egypt's opposition movements have taken to the streets in Alexandria in protest over the death of young businessman Khaled Said, who, according to his family, was beaten to death by two police officers.

The protests come following a second official investigation into the death declared that Said died from asphyxiation after he swallowed drugs. Many have declared the report a whitewash, pointing out that asphixiation does not explain the injuries shown in gruesome pictures of Said's deformed skull which were widely cirulated on the internet.

Senior opposition figures including Mohammed ElBaradei, leader of Egypt's National Association for Change, and Ayman Nour, the chairman of the Al Ghad (Tomorrow) Party and former presidential candidate, are reported to be in attendence at the protest.

احتشد العديد من المحتجين تحت قيادة بعض الرموز القيادية لحركات المعارضة المصرية بشوارع مدينة الإسكندرية في مسيرةٍ حول مقتل رجل الأعمال الشاب خالد سعيد، و الذي -بناءً على ما أوردته أسرته- كان قد تعرض للضرب الذي أودى إلى وفاته على يد إثنين من ضباط الشرطة.

و انطلقت تلك المظاهرة بعد إجراء الحكومة لتحقيقٍ ثانٍ حول الوفاة أظهر أن خالد سعيد قد لقي مصرعه جراء "اسفكسيا الاختناق" بعد قيامه بابتلاع جرعة من المخدرات. في حين أعلن الكثيرون أن ذلك التقرير ما هو إلا تبرئة لساحة الحكومة، مشيرين إلى أن عملية الاختناق لا تفسر الجروح التي ظهرت ببعض الصور البشعة لجمجمة خالد المشوهة و التي انتشرت بصورةٍ واسعةٍ عبر مواقع الإنترنت المختلفة.

وشهدت المظاهرة مشاركة كبار رموز المعارضة بمصر مثل محمد البرادعي زعيم الرابطة الوطنية للتغيير وأيمن نور رئيس حزب الغد وحمدين صبَّاحي زعيم حزب الكرامة وجورج اسحاق زعيم التحالف السياسي (كفاية).
