Bomb blast in south Beirut said to target Hamas official

انفجار في جنوب بيروت يقال أنه استهدف مسؤول في حماس

Security officials in Lebanon say a car bomb in the southern suburbs of Beirut was an assassination attempt on a senior Hamas official in the country.

Authorities in Beirut said three bombs were planted under the car of Ali Barakeh, the organisation’s high representative in Lebanon, and although three members of the Lebanese security forces were killed in the explosion, Barakeh was unharmed.

Raafat Murra, a spokesman for Hamas, said that the Palestinian group has an office in the area where the blast occurred but refused to make any further comment.

صرح مسؤولون أمنيون في لبنان أن انفجار سيارة مفخخة في ضواحي بيروت الجنوبية كان محاولة لاغتيال مسؤول رفيع في حركة حماس في البلاد.
وقالت السلطات في بيروت أن ثلاثة قنابل زرعت تحت سيارة علي بركة, ممثل المنظمة الرئيسي في لبنان, وثلاثة من أفراد قوات الأمن اللبنانية قتلوا في الانفجار, بينما لم يصب بركة بأذى.
رأفت مرة, المتحدث باسم حماس, قال أن لدى المجموعة الفلسطينية مكتب في مكان الانفجار لكنه رفض الإدلاء بأي تعليق آخر.
