Arrested Moroccan blogger put on trial for publishing a statement on student protests

A Moroccan court started, on Monday, trying the Moroccan blogger blogger Al-Bashir Hezzam after he published a statement on student protests in the area of Tarjijt in southern Morocco.

The Association of Moroccan Bloggers reported that Al-Bashir, who was arrested last week, came under investigation after he published a statement on his blog carrying the signatures of detained students during the protests.

Authorities said that this statement contains false information.

The area of Tarjijt has witnessed protests since the beginning of December, organized by a group of students and the unemployed. They want money invested in improving the social and cultural opportunities of the area.

شرعت إحدى المحاكم المغربية في محاكمة المدون البشير حزام على خلفية نشره بيانا حول الاحتجاجات الطلابية بمنطقة تغجيجت بجنوب المغرب.

وذكرت جمعية المدونين المغاربة أن البشير، الذي اعتقل قبل أسبوع، خضع للاستجواب بخصوص نشره بيانا على مدونته يحمل توقيع لجنة الطلبة المعتقلين خلال الاحتجاجات، وهو البيان الذي قالت السلطات إنه يتضمن معلومات زائفة.


وكانت منطقة تغجيجت قد شهدت منذ بداية شهر ديسمبر الجاري احتجاجات نظمها مجموعة من الطلبة والمعطلين دعوا خلالها لتحسين ظروف المنطقة اجتماعيا وثقافيا.
