Debunking Darwin or fine-tuning Evolution? How Ardi research resonated round the world

إبطال نظرية داروين أم تعديل لها؟ كيف أثارت الأردي زوبعة حول العالم

Research shedding new light on human evolution has caused a whirlwind of interest in the Arab media. A new report, published in Science magazine, suggests that a 4.4 million old skeleton named Ardi shows that previously accepted models tracing human evolution may be flawed.

Lead researcher Tim White claims that the report shows that the line of human evolution broke from the evolution of chimpanzees much earlier than had originally been thought, also noting that the Ardi’s pelvis was in fact adapted to walking upright, rather than on all fours.

The Arab media showed a large interest in the report, with Al Jazeera leading with “Ardi refutes Darwin’s theory” and Al Masry Al Youm titling their report “American Scientists Debunk Darwin”

أثار تقرير جديد يلقي الضور على تطور الإنسان دوامة من الاهتمام في الإعلام العربي. يؤكد تقرير جديد نشرته مجلة ساينس أن هيكل عظمي يرجع عمره إلى 4,4 مليون عام يسمى "أردي" قد يبطل النماذج السابقة حول تطور الإنسان.

ويدعي الباحث تيم وايت أن التقرير يوضح أن خط تطور البشرية قد تولد من تطور الشامبانزي في فترات أقدم مما يعتقده العلماء، وقال إن الهيكل العظمي للأردي كان مهيئاً للمشي وقوفاً وليس على الأطراف الأربعة.

واهتم الإعلام العربي اهتماماً كبيراً بالتقرير، حيث تكتب الجزيرة تقريراً بعنوان "أردي تطعن بصحة نظرية داروين"، أما المصري اليوم فكتبت "علماء أمريكيون يدحضون نظرية داروين".
