Hayat Sindi: First Arab woman to win PopTech fellowship

حياة سندي: اول امرأة عربية تنضم لمنظمة "بوب تيك " الأمريكية

Saudi researcher Hayat Sindi has become the first Arab woman to win a fellowship in the American innovation network PopTech.

She joins a group of leading scientists, researchers and Nobel laureates in the 2009 fellowship scheme.

PopTech, which provides research grants for scientists and researchers across the globe, chose Sindi, a nanosecond technology researcher at Harvard University, to be its ambassador to the Middle East.

Had she returned to the KSA, she wouldn’t have been able to accomplish any research; we have no modern laboratories nor scientific atmosphere, and most importantly, no adequate research budget. All the Arab scientists who won the Nobel Prize, such as Ahmad Zuwail, have made their achievements because they did not return.
