Skaikh Raed Salah goes to jail

بدأ تنفيذ حكم السجن للقيادي رائد صلاح

Islamic leader Shaikh Raed Salah has begun a five month prison sentence in Israel. The sentence was brought forward by an Israeli court following accusations of “assaulting and obstructing a police officer.”

Shaikh Raed is a prominent symbol of Islamic movement within Israel. He often engages in confrontations with Israeli troops, the most recent example of which resulted in his arrest as part of the “Freedom Flotilla”.

Salah told Reuters: “We go to prison in obedience to Allah. We go to prison in defense of al-Aqsa and Jerusalem. We go to prison to accomplish victory for our Islamic nation, the Arab world, and the people of Palestine.”

دخل القيادي الإسلامي الشيخ رائد صلاح السجن لمدة خمس شهور تنفيذاً لعقوبة أصدرتها عليه إحدى المحاكم الإسرائيلية بعد اتهامه بـ"أعمال شغب والاعتداء على شرطي وتعطيل عمله".

ويعتبر الشيخ رائد أحد أهم رموز الحركة الإسلامية داخل إسرائيل، وعادة ما يشترك فى مواجهات ضد الجنود الإسرائيليين، آخرها كانت احتجازه بعد اشتراكه فى أسطول الحرية.

وتعليقاً على الحكم قال "صلاح" فى كلمة نقلتها وكالة رويترز: "نحن الآن ندخل السجون طاعة لله. نحن الآن ندخل السجون دفاعا عن الأقصى والقدس. نحن الآن ندخل السجون انتصاراً لحق امتنا الإسلامية وعالمنا العربي وشعبنا الفلسطيني".
